Come back to yourself

You give your students care all day long. These two tools help you keep some of that care for yourself. Both are built for a full schedule.

In the moment · 30 seconds

The Reset

Notice. Pause. Respond.

  • NNoticeBring your attention to your body. Whatever is here in this moment, simply notice it.
  • PPauseTake one full breath. In, and out. That breath is the space between what happened and what you do next.
  • RRespondMake one small, intentional choice. Drop your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Name what you need in the next hour. One small move you choose on purpose.
End of the day

The B.E.S.T. Check-In

Breath. Emotions. State. Tend.

  • BBreathTake one slow, intentional breath, and notice if you’ve been holding it.
  • EEmotionsAsk yourself what you are feeling, and name it, even if it’s one word.
  • SStateA quick body scan. Where are you holding tension? Your shoulders, your jaw, your chest?
  • TTendAsk what you need after today. Even five minutes of something intentional changes how you release the workday.

The E.A.S.E. Framework

The four parts these tools come from.

  1. EExpose Survival
  2. AAccess Self
  3. SSelect with Intention
  4. EEstablish a Sustainable Life

Stepping fully out of survival mode takes more than two tools. That deeper work is what I do.
